Spring is often a good choice, before the season really starts, or autumn as soon as it gets quieter. If you wait to call until the first fine day, the chances are high that the schedule is already full. How long something takes depends on the job. Outside it stops when it is too cold or too wet, but inside carries on as usual. Walls, ceilings, stairs and interior doors we can do when everyone is off the boat. For a holiday home that is even ideal, because then it usually stands empty.

At painting in winter you can read what is and is not possible. Wood that we repair in winter we can finish in spring. But we do not force it: paint on cold or wet wood simply comes off again.

If your home is on the water, say whether we can reach all sides from the bank, or whether something needs a cherry picker. A rough year of construction helps us too, and photos of any boathouse or shed that should be included. Access from the waterside, the condition of the wood and the number of phases are the most important factors. The more we can do in one round, the less has to be set up each time. Our own scaffolding has a fixed price for erecting and dismantling, so a week of rain costs you no extra hire.
