Painter Oudehaske: walls, ceilings and wallpaper

Oudehaske lies between Joure and Heerenveen, with the motorway close by. Many people here work elsewhere during the day, and that shapes how we go about it. You do not want to take a week off to let a painter in.

That is why we agree beforehand how things will go with the key, which rooms are due when and how we close up each day. That way your home stays liveable, even if we do several rooms in a row and belongings have to stand elsewhere temporarily. Whether your house is more on the Heerenveen side or the side of Joure, it works exactly the same. You hear in advance on which days we will be there, and which room you cannot use that evening.

In and around Oudehaske the ground has a peat past, and in many houses you see a few cracks in walls or ceilings over the years. That need not be anything serious, but a coat of wall paint does not make them disappear either.

Glass fibre wallpaper or lining paper (renovlies) does hide small cracks. At painting glass fibre wallpaper you can read the difference. A customer with a 150 m2 new-build apartment also chose glass fibre wallpaper and wall paint. The advantage of such a layer is that later you only need to apply a new colour.

Streaks on a ceiling usually come from too little paint in the roller, or from touching up too late. The light from your window then shows it mercilessly. That is why we work through in one go and look along with the light.

At a ceiling without streaks you can read how that works. You also want the transition between wall and ceiling to be crisp, and the skirting boards and window frames to stay clean. Neat masking is half the work for that, and customers often mention it in their reviews too.

Send one or two photos per room, preferably in daylight, and give the floor area if you know it. With the height of the walls added we can already estimate fairly well how much work it is. Say what has to be done: walls only, ceiling too, window frames and doors too. If there is wallpaper that has to come off, add that as well.

Anyone who has just bought a house often wants everything done before moving in. Let us know as early as possible when you get the key, then we can reserve the weeks afterwards. That is also the handiest moment, because empty rooms go fastest. In new-build you often get walls that are ready for wallpaper or ready for wall paint, and that is not the same: it determines how much prep is still needed.
